Absence of Surface Water Temperature Trends in Lake Kinneret despite Present Atmospheric Warming: Comparisons with Dead Sea Trends

چکیده

This study was carried out using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) 1 km × resolution records on board Terra and Aqua satellites in-situ measurements during the period (2003–2019). In spite of presence increasing atmospheric warming, in summer when evaporation is maximal, fresh-water Lake Kinneret, satellite data revealed absence surface water temperature (SWT) trends. The SWT trends warming an indication influence cooling, due to above-mentioned evaporation, compensated for heating by regional resulting contrast hypersaline Dead Sea, located ~100 apart, MODIS showed trend 0.8 °C decade?1 same period. steadily Sea. supported a constant drop Sea level at rate ~1 m/year from year last 25-year (1995–2020). summer, measurements, near-surface Kinneret 0.7 decade?1.

Twentieth-Century Sea Surface Temperature Trends

An analysis of historical sea surface temperatures provides evidence for global warming since 1900, in line with land-based analyses of global temperature trends, and also shows that over the same period, the eastern equatorial Pacific cooled and the zonal sea surface temperature gradient strengthened. Recent theoretical studies have predicted such a pattern as a response of the coupled ocean-a...

Twentieth century tropical sea surface temperature trends revisited

[1] This study compares the global distribution of 20th century SST and marine air temperature trends from a wide variety of data sets including un‐interpolated archives as well as globally‐complete reconstructions. Apart from the eastern equatorial Pacific, all datasets show consistency in their statistically significant trends, with warming everywhere except the far northwestern Atlantic; the...

Atmospheric Circulation Trends, 1950-2000: The Relative Roles of Sea Surface Temperature Forcing and Direct Atmospheric Radiative Forcing

We examine the relative roles of direct atmospheric radiative forcing (due to observed changes in well-mixed greenhouse gases, tropospheric and stratospheric ozone, sulfate and volcanic aerosols, and solar output) and observed sea surface temperature (SST) forcing of global atmospheric circulation trends during the second half of the 20 century using atmospheric general circulation modeling exp...

Century-Long Warming Trends in the Upper Water Column of Lake Tanganyika

Lake Tanganyika, the deepest and most voluminous lake in Africa, has warmed over the last century in response to climate change. Separate analyses of surface warming rates estimated from in situ instruments, satellites, and a paleolimnological temperature proxy (TEX86) disagree, leaving uncertainty about the thermal sensitivity of Lake Tanganyika to climate change. Here, we use a comprehensive ...
